Meet Alexis

Mobile, Alabama Family Photographer • Mom of Three • Storyteller of the Years You'll Miss Most

Hi, I'm Alexis.

I'm the photographer behind AFV Photography, a mom of three, and someone who has always believed that the ordinary moments are usually the ones that matter most.

The way your toddler reaches for your hand. The missing front tooth that somehow disappears overnight. The way your oldest still asks you to tuck them in, even though they're growing faster than you're ready for.

Those are the moments I find myself holding onto.

As a Mobile, Alabama family photographer, my goal isn't simply to take beautiful pictures. It's to create photographs that help you remember what this season of life actually felt like.

Whether I'm photographing a young family beneath the oak trees in Mobile, exploring the waterfront in Fairhope, or capturing beach family photos on Dauphin Island, every gallery is built around connection, personality, and the people you love most.

Why I Started AFV Photography

Like so many moms, I spent years making sure everyone else had memories.

I was the one taking the pictures, Planning birthdays, Saving artwork.

Keeping every little keepsake that somehow felt impossible to throw away.

But somewhere along the way, I realized something...

I wasn't in many of those memories myself.

During my third pregnancy, life felt wonderfully full, but incredibly busy. I kept telling myself we'd schedule family photos once life slowed down. It never really did. Before I knew it, another season had passed.

That experience completely changed how I look at family photography.

But the truth is, I didn't just become a photographer. I rediscovered something I'd loved long before becoming a mom. Photography had always been part of my story, but motherhood gave it new meaning. When I realized how quickly my own family's seasons were changing, I picked up my camera again with a different purpose. AFV Photography was built to help other parents preserve the moments I know firsthand are gone far too quickly.

AFV Photography exists because I don't want another parent to realize too late that the season they wanted to remember has already changed.

When I'm not behind the camera...

You'll usually find me with an emotional support coffee in hand, planning our next trip, or rewatching a favorite show for the third time.

I'm endlessly sentimental. The kind of mom who saves every drawing, every note, every tiny momento—because I know how fast it all disappears. I'm also the kind of person who wishes someone was always following my family around with a camera, capturing the messy hair, the funny quirks, the ordinary magic we're living through without even realizing it.

Because here's the truth: we don't get these days back. The pacifiers, the lovies, the way they mispronounce their favorite word—it's all temporary. And if we're not intentional about holding onto it, we'll look back one day and wish we had.

I don't want to miss a thing. And I have a feeling you don't either.

More Than Beautiful Pictures

Family photography isn't about perfect behavior.

It's not about matching outfits. And it definitely isn't about asking your kids to smile at the camera for thirty minutes.

It's about remembering who they were.

Their personalities.

Their little habits.

The way they looked at you.

The way they laughed.

The way they fit perfectly in your arms before they suddenly didn't.

Those are the photographs I hope become your favorites.

Before your session

I'll send you a detailed style guide, location recommendations, and a questionnaire so I can learn about your family. We'll talk through any questions. You'll show up feeling confident, not guessing.

During your session

I'll gently guide you through every moment. You'll never wonder where to stand or what to do. Your kids can be themselves—tired, silly, shy, or energetic. I adapt to you, not the other way around.

After your session

You'll receive a sneak peek within days and a curated gallery within 4 weeks. Every image is hand-edited to feel natural, timeless, and unmistakably you. This isn't transactional. It's intentional.

What Makes the AFV Experience Different?

There are so many talented photographers serving Mobile and the Alabama Gulf Coast.

What I believe sets AFV Photography apart isn't just my editing style. It's the experience.

I know family photos can feel overwhelming.

Finding outfits.

Choosing a location.

Wondering if your kids will cooperate.

Convincing your husband this will actually be painless.

That's why I guide you through every step.

Before your session, I'll help you choose a location that fits your family, whether that's a quiet park in Mobile, downtown Fairhope, a field in Daphne, or a beach on Dauphin Island.

You'll receive outfit guidance, planning resources, and tips to help everyone feel prepared. During your session, I'll gently guide you without making anything feel stiff or overly posed. Instead of asking your children to perform, I let them be exactly who they are.

Because those are the moments you'll treasure.

But Alexis, my kids won't cooperate...

I hear this constantly. And here's what I want you to know: I don't need your kids to cooperate. I plan for real kids, the ones who refuse to smile, who only want to be held, who need breaks, who melt down. That's not a problem. That's life. And life is what I'm here to document. Some of the most beautiful, authentic images I've ever taken happened when kids were being "difficult." Because those moments are real. And real is what you'll treasure years from now. Your kids don't need to be perfect.

They just need to be them.
